Ed’s Monthly/Quarterly/Annual Portfolio Summary for December/4th Quarter/2013   8 comments

December was a beautiful month for my portfolio, easily beating all the benchmarks:

Ed’s Overall: +6.39%

Ed’s 401k: +5.90%
S&P 500: +2.36%
ACWI (all-world index): +1.23%
JUBAX: +2.87%

Also, my IRA daytrading results were a perfect 4 of 4, all profitable, with a weighted average profit of +0.72%.

In my 401k, here are the individual position results for December:

DIS: 5.86 to $76.40 ( 8.31% , 21.71% overall)– bought at $62.77
GOOG: 61.12 to $1,120.71 ( 5.77% , 28.33% overall)– bought at $873.31
MSFT: 0.55 to $37.41 ( 1.49% , 1.49% overall)– bought at $36.86
NNVC: 0.10 to $5.00 ( 2.04% , 41.64% overall)– bought at $3.53
SAN: 0.13 to $9.07 ( 1.45% , 4.98% overall)– bought at $8.64

Here are my overall 4th quarter results:

Ed’s Overall: +12.80%
Ed’s IRA: +9.35%
Ed’s 401k: +18.02%
S&P 500: +9.92%
ACWI (all-world index): +6.86%
JUBAX: +4.37%

Finally, the annual results:

Ed’s Overall: N/A (due to different time periods in both accounts)
Ed’s IRA: +10.25%
Ed’s 401k: +33.41% (NOTE: This was started in May.)
S&P 500: +29.60%
ACWI (all-world index): +19.84%
JUBAX: +1.52%

2013 started slowly for me, but I picked up steam as the year progressed, with profitable months in my IRA for the last 6 months of the year (7 of the last 8). My 401k, which is my long-term holding account, also had a great start in 2013, with only one losing month out of 7 months, and beating the S&P 500 for the entire year.

  1. Good results. Lets do better in 2014!

  2. Congratulations Ed. I quit reading Jubax last year. Does he still have a fund? If he does, I can’t imagine he will last much longer.

    • Great finish!!

      JUBAX according to google finance:
      Since inception ~July 2010: -2.26% compared to 41.88% for ACWI(closest benchmark I can see)

      Yikes.

  3. Nice month Ed!

  4. Thanks folks!

  5. Ed – glad to see the improvement. Stock picking seems to be working better for you than the leveraged etfs.
